Radio Free Albemuth: Isn't It Ironic?

Alanis Morissette in 'Radio Free Albemuth'
I just watched the PKD inspired movie, 'Radio Free Albemuth' again today and couldn't help thinking that in a synchromystical way this movie predicted a Trump presidency in the Year of the Fire Rooster.
Year of the Firebird?-)
The President and his new Soviet allies?
Maybe PKD should have grabbed
his soon to be deceased pussy?-)
The dream visions of Nick Brady beamed from VALIS
Some of those visions seem a bit misogynist to me.

My #200 of 1000 RFA Kick-starter reward DVDs
The DVD I own was a reward I received from a Kick-starter campaign to help fund the movie for a cinema release in 2014, the movie itself was made in 2010.
Let's hope that vision wasn't from inside Trump Tower
The Republican/Elephant in the room vision?

"Radio Free Albemuth is a 2010 American film adaptation of the dystopian novel Radio Free Albemuth by author Philip K. Dick, which was written in 1976 and published posthumously in 1985
The film is written, directed, and produced by John Alan Simon and stars Jonathan Scarfe and Shea Whigham.
The story is set in an alternate reality America circa 1985 under the authoritarian control of President Fremont.
It makes liberal references to the collected works of Philip K. Dick.
Berkeley record store clerk Nick Brady
(Jonathan Scarfe) lives modestly with his wife Rachel (Katheryn Winnick) and their infant son.
Nick has been experiencing strange visions and dreams.
He confides in Rachel and his best friend, science-fiction writer Philip K. Dick (Shea Whigham). Nick calls the source of his visions VALIS (Vast Alien Living Intelligence System)."
"Meanwhile, Nick has a dream where a woman (Alanis Morissette) is singing.
During the dream, someone comments that there is something about her singing that seems subversive.
Eventually, the woman turns up at Nick's record label, looking for a clerical job.
She introduces herself as Sylvia, and Nick just assumes that she is a singer.
Sylvia gradually reveals that she also receives visions from VALIS
She explains that there are several thousand people who receive transmissions from the orbiting satellite, and they are very loosely organized as a secret society."
Ironically, I was invited to a party that Alanis was going to be at to promote this film if I could pay my way over from Australia to The States and get a passport (I've never had one) within two weeks.
I had visions of my plane crashing LOST style into the Pacific if I did go, so I was kind of glad it was a mission impossible invite for me.
Shea Whigham as PKD sitting on a Native American rug
Also ironic is that the actor who plays Nick Brady (Jonathan Scarfeshares the same birthday as PKD, December 16th.
Where have I heard that name BRADY before?-)
 Sounds rather
patriotic
Patriots' Day?
A VALIS vision of major players of

Another fishy VALIS vision
The inside of a 40-foot shipping container ...
 and I should know
Ironically, because of the shoestring budget John had to work with while making this film he used 40-foot shipping containers in quite a few places in this film.
It's also ironic that Trump is talking trade/wars with China while on the subject of shipping containers.
A prison camp in RFA made
from
40-foot shipping containers
Having worked for a Swedish furniture chain owned by a real life Nazi for half of my life, I'm pretty well acquainted with the insides of 40-foot shipping containers.
A dream vision from VALIS of a hellish dimension in RFA
I also find it ironic that Katheryn Winnick, who plays Rachel Brady in RFA and celebrates her birthday just one day after PKD on December 17th is the star of the upcoming Stephen King movie version of The Dark Tower.
Katheryn Winnick
Trump/Tower? Card Number (20)16?
Trump/Tower?
There seems to be an octagon theme running through the movie, too for some reason.
Check out the lights in the above bar scene and the space above Alanis Morissette in the photo at the very top of this post.
Isn't it ironic?

UPDATE: 2020
And some more Alanis irony in my own life it seems?

  2. Not just Jonathan Scarfe - The writer-director of Radio Free Albemuth - John Alan Simon - also shares his birthday of December 16th with Philip K. Dick.

  3. You're right "simon"50, but It's hard to verify that from John Alan Simon's IMDB, or Wikipedia sites, because his birth-date isn't mentioned, but I went to the RFA Facebook site
    https://www.facebook.com/rfamovie/
    and found the following -

"December 16 is a good day around here.
It’s a rare day to not think about something Philip K. Dick wrote or reference one his books.
So when the anniversary of his birthday, December 16, comes around it’s like acknowledging the birthday of a good friend.
And in a nice bit of cosmic synchronicity, Radio Free Albemuth director John Alan Simon and one of it’s stars, Jonathan Scarfe, share a birthday with Phil.
So happy birthday Phil, John and Jonathan."

I notice that John is sitting on the rights for 'Flow My Tears, the Policeman Said'.

So that's something to look forward to.
