The Depressing Thought of Being Half Way Through Eternity?-)

I just listened to a great podcast episode at the 'Me and Paranormal You' website where the guest Cameron talks about being 8 years old (;-) and wondering what eternity will be like, even if it was just total oblivion.
I thought this was funny, because where did he think he was before he was born here?
Because eternity isn't a one-way street, eternity goes back as far as it goes forward ... doesn't it?
It's a bit of a Zen kōan in a way when you think about it.
You have just lived through eternity if you are here, because paradoxically you can't halve eternity and you can't ever reach the end of it, or get back to the beginning of it, either.
What a mindf#ck that thought is, but rest assured that you are more or less halfway there already.
Good talk in the wake of a musician who appears to have taken his own life this week.
That's not my tattoo, by the way.
Eternity?
Are we there yet?-)
Now ... there is a Zen kōan if I ever saw one;-)
